Bread oven and hearth in one room. The rear elevation most likely the oldest and may originally have been the front. 3
Old Jersey Houses
An entry in Volume Two suggests a possible marriage between Thomas Priaulx and Marie Nicolle in 1695, but it is clearly shown as 1708 in our database, so Marie cannot have been Jean's mother.
The article also indicates that land, pigsties and the ruins of a building, all belonging to Les Gres, are on the opposite side of the road from the house, but notes that far less traffic would have passed through the farmstead than in the 20th century.
Notes and references
- ↑ The Datestone Register gives the spelling of the surname as Pridaux and Pridauld, but says that the second marriage is recorded as Priaulx. It wrongly shows the location of the 1708 marriage as St John. Jean's surname is given as Priauld in his marriage record.
