Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

An elegant late 19th century Gothic-style house which retains historic character and features. An unusual style in its deeply rural context, belonging to a small group of similar contextually eccentric houses in the parish.

Two-storey three-bay main house with cottage to west and outbuilding. Centre bay projecting forward and gabled.

The staircase is a modern replica or reconstruction of circa 1800 type. There are late 19th century 4 panel doors throughout. The east room has a cast iron grate with eclectic-style tiles circa 1880 and a timber chimney piece with ornate lincrusta applique, flanked by built-in sideboards with matching decoration.

West cottage: the only interior feature to record is a fireplace with a stone lintel. Three Barns: Former outbuildings comprising main building with east outbuilding running diagonally along roadside.

Internally: A date high up at the apex of the north gable of the east outbuilding 1877. The interior although recently renovated incorporates period elements such as chamfered beams with scroll stops.
