Bailiff of Jersey 1494
Jean Nicolle

The Jean Nicolle who was Bailiff for a few months in 1494, in between Clement Le Hardy and Thomas Lempriere, was possibly born in St Martin in 1440, the son of Drouet Nicolle, but alternatively he could have been the same Jean Nicolle who was appointed Jurat in 1488 and is shown by J A Messervy as "Seigneur of Longueville, born in England".

Nothing further is known about this Bailiff, particularly why he should have been appointed before Lempriere, who was the senior of the two, having been made Jurat in 1482, and who was Bailiff by 27 March 1495.
