The Islands Archives Service was established in 1986 to look after the islands' historical documents.

Its original home was in Victoria Road, St Peter Port, but in 2005, it moved into St Barnabus Church, which had been especially renovated to create an environment suitable for the storage and protection of the archives.

Its records include the papers of States of Guernsey departments, Business records and Personal papers.

Amongst its collections are WW2 Registration Cards which were introduced during the German Occupation.
