Google search

From Jerripedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The search facility built into our program was never the most effective. It is much easier to find content you are looking for by using Google, so we have changed the search facility accessed from the panel on the left of the page.

Eventually we hope to install a direct link so that you can input the word(s) you are searching for without leaving Jerripedia, but clicking on the logo below will take you straight to the Google search box, already programmed to look for information in this website.

Just click on the logo and you will see that Google has already been instructed to search, and no other websites, for the information you require. It will be showing a random set of results

  • To find what you are looking for: In the search box, after, type a space, followed by the word(s) you want to search for in Jerripedia

For example: St Helier

You will then get a list of results for the word(s) wherever they are found in our website

  • You can search for a family name, an individual person, the name of a property, a ship - you can search for anything you are trying to find in this website with the full power of the Google search engine. And unlike the old Jerripedia search facility, you don't have to get the words in exactly the right order, or have capital letters in the right place
  • And as an added bonus, you will also get the usual helpful Google links to all sorts of related information on other sites, and Google will find pictures in this website related to your search
