The spelling of the family name fluctuated from Malet to Mallet, often within a generation. The spellings below are taken from J Bertrand Payne's Armorial of Jersey. Note also that there were probably three further generations between William at generation 2 and Richard at Generation 5

These facts tie in with Clara Ann Malet having been the widow of Robert Philip Armstrong (died 1863), and daughter of William Edmund Malet, MRCS, of West Hill, Mont à L`Abbé
